How to Find the Battery on a Honda Motorcycle
The Honda Motor Company has been building motorcycles since the early 1950s, producing timeless motorcycles such as the CB750 street bike, the Goldwing touring cycle, and theCBR sport bikes. With so many models on hand, Honda has made changes in the location of each motorcycle's on-board equipment to improve the performance of their machines. Battery placement on a Honda motorcycle is vital to the bike's handling and weight distribution; as such, locating the battery on a bike you're not familiar with can be difficult. Fortunately, with the relatively limited size of a motorcycle, there are only a few places the battery could be hidden.

1
Remove the rider's seat. Most Honda motorcycles' batteries are in a tray hidden under the rider's seat. Older CB-series models will have a hinged seat that will need to be unlocked with a key to access the battery. Newer Shadow and CBR seats will need to be unbolted with an Allen key. On these models, the battery will be accessible once the seat has been removed or opened.

2
Remove the frame's side covers. On certain Honda motorcycles, such as earlier Goldwings, the battery is behind the side covers. In most cases, the side covers are held in place with a tab and rubber grommet, allowing the cover to be removed by simply pulling it out of the grommet.

Tips & Warnings
Removing the battery once it is located is accomplished with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Unscrew the wire leads from the battery's terminals, starting with the negative (-) terminal first. Disconnect the positive (+) terminal next and pull the battery out of the tray. To reconnecting the battery, connect the positive (+) terminalm then the negative (-) terminal.
To prevent the risk of electrical shock or short-circuit, do not allow the negative (-) terminal to contact the frame when connecting or disconnecting the battery.
