Instructions

1
Gather the following supplies to make window decals: white craft glue like Elmer's glue, a variety of food coloring, a plastic sheet of paper like a plastic cover you use for school reports (or you can use a thick plastic bag like a zip lock freezer bag or even wax paper if that's all you have), and a paint brush.
-
2
Pour some white glue into small containers. An ice cube tray is perfect because you can put glue in several sections to make different colors.
-
3
Add a few drops of food coloring to each section of glue and stir each section with a craft stick or toothpick. You can also mix the food colors to make new colors (red and blue makes purple, etc.).
-
4
Lay out your plastic of choice and tape it to your workspace to keep it from moving around. If you are using a printed template to help you draw your design, tape the template under the plastic.
-
5
Paint your design directly on the plastic surface (or wax paper). Be generous with the paint and make sure you completely fill in your design so there are no spaces.
-
6
Paint as many decals as will fit on your plastic surface. If you run out of paint, just make more! You can also add glitter to your paint for a glittery look. If you want to make thick 3D window decals, let the first layer dry a bit then add more paint on top.
-
7
Let your window decals dry overnight. Then carefully peel them off the plastic or wax paper and stick them on your windows or refrigerator or decorate your windows. You can also put them on your car but rain will wash them away. You can put them on the inside of car windows to keep them safe from the rain.

on 3/28/2010 I like this project...I've done it for Easter and Valentine's day but didn't know they actually stick to glass! Good directions!
