How to Troubleshoot a Frigidaire Clothes Dryer
Frigidaire sells dryers that are typically about 27 inches wide and about 36 inches tall. The drums inside of the dryers are about 30 inches in diameter. While these dryers are typically able to handle heavy loads and only have minor problems, there are sometimes inefficiencies that occur that cause these dryers to not work as effectively as they should–and sometimes not work at all. By following a few simple troubleshooting techniques, the owner of a Frigidaire clothes dryer can often easily fix issues the dryer has with heat, odor or noise. Does this Spark an idea?

Check the basic connections around the dryer if it does not start. Although it sounds simple, some forget to check to make sure the dryer is plugged into the wall outlet. If the plug is secure in the wall, check the breaker box to make sure the switch to the laundry room didn't flip off when you plugged the appliance in. Replace the circuit breaker or replace the fuse as needed and then retry the dryer. Also, you can use an ohmmeter to make sure the wall outlet has an electrical current flowing to it.

2
Make sure there is not excess lint in the dryer if it smells like the dryer or the clothes inside the dryer are burning. Remove the dryer lint screen and discard any lint trapped in the screen. Turn the dryer back on. If–after running for several minutes–you still notice a burning smell, check the exhaust duct. Clear out any debris or lint that may have gotten caught up in the exhaust duct. Because high humidity levels can cause the burning smell, you might want to use a dehumidifier in the laundry room, which could minimize the burning smell.

Change how you dry the clothes if you find that the clothes are excessively wrinkled after a drying cycle finishes. Try to not place as many items in the dryer at once to see if the wrinkling decreases the next time you use the dryer. A dryer temperature that is too high also could cause wrinkling, so you may want to decrease the heat settings. Simply removing the dried clothing from the dryer soon after the cycle finishes also is likely to decrease the amount of wrinkling you may see.

4
Decrease the amount of noise the dryer makes by ensuring that the tiny legs underneath the dryer are all set to the same height. An unstable dryer will wobble, causing it to vibrate and make a rumbling noise when it operates. Place the dryer on a flat, hard surface. Do not place it on a carpet or a rug. If it sounds like there is something rattling around inside the dryer, open the dryer door and check to see if any loose change or other small items fell from a pocket into the drum. Restart the dryer and listen to hear if the sound continues.
