Instructions

    • 1

Knead a baseball-size amount of polymer clay to soften it. Flatten the softened clay on a work surface covered in wax paper.

    • 2

Roll the flattened clay through the largest setting on the pasta machine, creating a sheet of clay with uniform thickness. If the largest setting on the machine is too thick, reduce it one size and roll the sheet of clay back through the pasta machine. If the thickest setting is not thick enough for your mosaic tiles, stack two sheets of polymer clay together to create the desired thickness.

    • 3

Cut mosaic tile shapes from the sheet of clay using cookie cutters, a craft knife or specialized clay cutters.

    • 4

Place the mosaic tiles onto a cookie sheet covered in tin foil and bake in the oven according to the manufacturer's instructions. Allow the baked tiles to cool completely.

    • 5

Lay the fabric face down on a flat work surface. Trace the outline of the clay cutter used to make the tiles onto the back of the fabric. If you created free-form tile designs, trace the outline of the individual tiles onto the fabric. Cut out the shapes from the fabric.

    • 6

Cover the face of a mosaic tile with decoupage glue. Press the fabric swatch cut to fit the tile into the glue. Smooth the excess glue over the top of the fabric. If there is no excess, add a bit more decoupage glue to the top of the fabric and smooth it out. Let the glue dry.
