How to Unlock a Whirlpool Duet

Duet's control lock prevents unintended use of the appliance.

Duet washers and dryers manufactured by Whirlpool use electronic controls accessed through the control panel. A feature of the Duet appliance series is the control lockout. The lockout prevents unintentional use of the washer or dryer. The lockout also prevents changes being made to the cycle and options selection while the appliance is in use. While the lockout feature is enabled, the "Pause/Stop" button will stop the cycle in progress, but the appliance cannot be restarted until the lockout is disabled.

Instructions

1. Locate the "Controls Lock/Unlock" button on the far right side of the control panel.

2. Press and hold the "Controls Lock/Unlock" button for three seconds to toggle the lock feature.

3. Observe the status light. The status light is lit when the controls are locked. The status light is out when the controls are unlocked.
