How to Glue Fabric to Paper and Digital Art
If you glue fabric to an image such as a painting or digital printout, it can add an interesting visual effect and texture. You can use the fabric to give texture to an outfit in an image or texture to a background. You need to use caution when you attach the fabric, however, or you may end up with a sticky, wrinkly mess of fabric, glue and paper.

1
Cut the paper into the shape you want to attach to the paper. Make it as accurate as possible because it will be hard to correct the shape once you glue it to the image.
-
2
Coat the back of the fabric with a fine layer of fabric glue. Do not use too much, or it may seep from the edges of the fabric. Excess glue can cause the fabric or the image to wrinkle.

3
Press the fabric to the image. Start at the edge of the fabric and press it down slowly. Smooth it out as you go to avoid wrinkles and bubbles. You can use your finger or a ruler to smooth the fabric.
-
4
Lay a weight over the image. You can use a book or anything that is heavy and flat. Make sure it covers the entire surface of the fabric for the best results.
-
5
Remove the weight after an hour. This gives the fabric glue plenty of time to dry. Use caution when you remove the weight in case any glue leaked out of the sides of the fabric. Check around the edges of the fabric for any peeling areas.
-
6
Add a thin layer of glue around the edges of the fabric if it separates from the image. Press the fabric down and lay the weight over the fabric once again. Let it dry for one hour before you remove the weight.

Tips & Warnings
Make several copies of the image you are modifying with fabric. That way, you always have a second chance if you mess up the first time.
Use Superglue if the fabric glue is not working as well as it should.
Use clear fabric glue so if you do have any excess glue that leaks from the sides of the fabric, it will be less noticeable.
