How to Setup Army Knowledge Online Mail With Windows Mail thumbnail
Setting up your Army Knowledge Online Mail takes about five minutes.

Army Knowledge Online is a portal where members of the military can glean information and set up an email account. If they have access to Windows Mail, they can run their Army Knowledge email through it. This will allow them to organize and manage their email from this account and other web-based accounts they may have.

Instructions

      Open your Windows Mail. Click "Tools" in the main menu bar. Scroll down and click "Accounts..."

      Click the "Add" button on the right side of the dialog box that appears. Hit "E-mail Account" and click the "Next" box.

      Type your name in the field that is provided. Click the "Next" button. Type your email address in the field that is provided. Click the "Next" button.

      Select IMAP from the drop-down menu. Enter "imap.us.army.mil" in the incoming server field. Type "mailrouter.us.army.mil" in the outgoing mail server field. Uncheck the box next to "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)." Click the "Next" button.

      Type in your AKO/DKO user name and password in the fields on the next page. Click the "Next" button. Click the "Finish" button on the next page.

      Double-click the account that you just created. Hit the "Advanced" tab. Type "465" in the "Outgoing Server (IMAP)" field and "993" in the "Incoming Server (IMAP)" field. Put check marks in the boxes next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." Click the "Apply" button and then click the "OK" button.

      Close all dialog boxes and restart your Windows Mail.
