How to Set Convergence on a Sony TV

Reset the convergence on your Sony TV to get a crisp picture.

If your picture looks blurry, or if the colors aren't as crisp as you think they should be, your television could have a convergence problem. Sony TV convergence problems arise when the pictures on the screen don't line up according to their original design. This can happen over time because of everyday use and is a normal problem to experience with a Sony television. Sony makes it easy to fix the convergence problem, so you can again enjoy crisp pictures and detailed colors the way you did when you first brought your TV home.

Instructions

1. Press the "Power" button to turn your TV on.

2. Wait at least 30 minutes before you adjust the convergence in your television. This allows your TV ample time to warm up before you make the adjustment.

3. Turn your TV to a cable channel or to an antenna channel with a picture that you can see. A music channel with a static shot of music notes isn't the kind of picture you need. Instead, look for a picture like what you would see on a movie, sitcom or drama.

4. Press the "Flash Focus" button located in the front panel on your TV. You may need to open a hidden compartment on the front of your TV to access this button. The convergence will repair itself automatically after you hit this button. It may take several minutes.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have other adjustments you want to make to your Sony TV, you must wait until the "Flash Focus" feature finishes its cycle.
