How to Replace RV Corner Molding

Corner molding attaches the sides of the RV unit to the ceiling. Even with proper maintenance as the RV ages, it will get dents, crack and discolor. Replacing corner trim will not only help make the RV last longer, but it will also help improve its looks. Keeping up on minor improvements like this will also give your RV more value if you try to sell. It is not difficult to replace corner trim and can be done as a do-it-yourself weekend project.

Things You'll Need

• New corner trim
• #9 aluminum hex head screws
• Ladder
• Rubbing alcohol
• Rags
• "Whiter" putty tape
• Assorted screw and hex drivers

Instructions

1. Unscrew the corner molding. You might have to get up on a ladder to reach the parts near the ceiling.

2. Remove the corner molding by pulling down and toward you.

3. Throw the molding and screws away. Remove all the old putty by pulling it off and removing the stickiness with rubbing alcohol.

4. Pry the siding and roofing apart carefully to check for water damage. If there is no damage, put it back down.

5. Replace the putty tape using "whiter" putty tape. When using "whiter" putty, allow the tape to freeze for 10 minutes before using it to prevent it from sticking to itself.

6. Replace the molding and screws with the new.
