Step2
Pin the traced design in place on the fabric to be embroidered.
Step3
Embroider over the paper, then carefully cut it away.
Step4
Or baste the outline of the design with plain thread in a simple running stitch, carefully tear away the paper and then embroider over the basting.
Step5
Or pin dressmaker's tracing paper facedown between the fabric and the traced pattern and trace the outline with a pencil.

on 1/2/2007 You can try blue carbon tracing paper. Just put the dark side of the carbon paper on the fabric and the paper with your design on top of the carbon paper. Trace your design and it should transfer to the fabric. Embroider and wash - the blue trace marks should wash out.

on 7/5/2006 Many fabric and quilting stores sell an item called a transfer pencil. This pencil turns any drawn design into a hot transfer. Follow the directions and recommended iron heat settings on the package.
