To knot or not to knot, that is the question. Although a small knot at the end of your yarn or thread securely anchors the work in progress, the back of your embroidery will look neater and smoother if it is knot-free.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Embroidery Needles
  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Embroidery Threads
  • Embroidery Yarns
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Embroidery Frames
  • Embroidery Hoops
  • Fabrics

Step1
Insert a threaded needle from the backside of the fabric, and pull through all but an inch or two of unknotted thread.
Step2
Hold the loose end down, covering it with stitches as you work.
Step3
Or, make a couple of running stitches, backstitch and then cover those as you work.
Step4
Slide the needle under existing stitches on the wrong side of the fabric if you have already started the design.
Step5
Leave the loose end of the thread under these stitches.
