To knot or not to knot, that is the question. Although a small knot at the end of your yarn or thread securely anchors the work in progress, the back of your embroidery will look neater and smoother if it is knot-free.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Embroidery Needles
  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Embroidery Threads
  • Embroidery Yarns
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Embroidery Frames
  • Embroidery Hoops
  • Fabrics
  1. Step 1

    Insert a threaded needle from the backside of the fabric, and pull through all but an inch or two of unknotted thread.

  2. Step 2

    Hold the loose end down, covering it with stitches as you work.

  3. Step 3

    Or, make a couple of running stitches, backstitch and then cover those as you work.

  4. Step 4

    Slide the needle under existing stitches on the wrong side of the fabric if you have already started the design.

  5. Step 5

    Leave the loose end of the thread under these stitches.
