How to Change the Bottom Element in a Frigidaire Oven

The bottom element in your Frigidaire oven is the baking element. The bottom element in a Frigidaire oven is not difficult to change. It connects to the inside rear wall. The ends of the element have mounting plates securing the element to the wall. You will only need one hand tool to complete the project to have your Frigidaire baking properly again.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Replacement element
  • Disconnect the Frigidaire oven power cord from the wall outlet, and open the oven door. Pull the oven racks out of the oven, and set them out of your way.

  • Locate the screws that secure the bottom element mounting plate ends to the rear wall of the oven. There is one screw on each end of the element. Remove the screws securing the bottom element with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

  • Pull the bottom element out of the rear oven wall until you can grasp the wires that are connecting to each end of the element. Pull the wires off the element terminal ends with your fingers, and pull the bottom element out of the oven.

  • Take the faulty element to an appliance repair store to pick up a new element. Compare the new element to the old one to ensure you have the correct part for your oven.

  • Set the new bottom element into the oven and attach the wires to each element terminal. Push the wire leads over the terminals until they lock into position.

  • Push the bottom element ends into the rear oven wall until the end mounting plate is flush against the wall. Secure the element ends with the two retaining screws. Place the oven racks back into the oven, and close the oven door. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
