If you have encounterd this keep in mind that there IS a DIFFERENCE between a knock off like the "bob-o-pedic", "Dormia", "Therapedic", "Sealy Trueform" and the list goes on. If someone tells you that it is the same they are technically not lying to you, but they are not being 100% truthful either. Without overwhelming you with "mattress nerd" talk I am going to make this quite simple analogy for you to understand:
Let's say you go to a car dealer looking to buy a Ferrari. You tell the salesperson what you want, and he then puts you into a Dodge Neon for a test drive. On the test drive he tells you that they are the same and you naturally will buy the cheaper one because it is "the same".
Well the salesperson in the above scenario is not lying because both are cars, have 4 wheels, a motor, anti-lock brakes and so on. Well you are saying to yourself this is crazy, but that is exactly what it is like to compare Tempurpedic to anything else out there. The difference is that you know about cars, but are not a bed expert so you may be easily duped into thinking a knock off is as good as the real thing.

Next is that people will tell you that "you sleep hot" in it. Once again this can be true and false. Keep in mind the real vs. knock off scenario. You bought a knock off and are sweating like crazy in the bed. Now because a salesperson told you It is "just like Tempurpedic" you start telling everyone you meet that "you sweat to death in your Tempurpedic". If you bought the real thing you would know that Tempurpedic has engineered airflow chambers in them to dissipate heat. On the flip side because it is a low pressure sleep system you will have increased circulation thorough your body. This means that you may not have those cold feet anymore, so if you consider that sleeping hot then I guess your right about the whole sleeping hot thing.

Last thing to talk about before we figure out how to buy the best Tempurpedic mattress is the price. If you have never seen the price of them think back to the Ferrari comparison. When is the last time you saw an advertisement for the "Year End Ferrari Blowout Sale"? Exactly it never happens, and that is the same with Tempurpedic. Now they will put things on sale such as the accessories, boxes, and even Ergo Systems, but they never put the actual Tempurpedic mattresses on sale. Yes I said Tempurpedic never puts their bed on sale because they don't have to. Also if you sell Tempurpedic in your store you must adhere to MMAP pricing. That means the price from Tempurpedic is THE PRICE....No exceptions. The moral of this story is if you are going to wait for it to be "on sale" before buying it then just look at other stuff because it is not going to happen.

The first step in buying the best Tempurpedic Mattress for you is to visit any Tempurpedic retailer online. They are advertised all over the place or just go to the Tempurpedic website. This will give you an idea as to how much they cost, so you don't get sticker shock when you arrive in a store. To save you a visit to a website a queen set is going to start at $1,699 and go up to about $9000. It is a good idea to figure out if this is in your budget before going on. Many retailers offer some very, very good interest free financing programs to help break that big ticket down to small payments. While you are there on the website write down the model names that you would like to try. Unlike all other mattresses, Tempurpedic are called the same everywhere.

The next step is to go to a Tempurpedic retailer and lay down on the beds. When you lay on the beds make sure that you take your jacket off (unless you sleep with it on). Your jacket will interfere with the way the bed molds to your body. Lie down in your natural sleeping position for about 30 seconds and allow the bed to conform to your body's unique shape. Stay there for a few minutes and enjoy the bed. At this point your salesperson will tell you a little about the bed you are on. Just keep in mind if at this point you like the conforming feel then continue on, but if you don't like the feeling look at other bedding instead of Tempurpedic. Let me tell you from experience if you lie on the bed and don't have that "wow", "this is awesome", "this feels great" feeling then this is not the bed for you.

Now that you have tried one Tempurpedic bed and like the feel of Tempurpedic, on to the next one to try. Go down the line of different Tempurpedic mattresses and try the different feels. Keep in mind that from least expensive to most expensive they all do the same exact thing.
*** I will inform you of a little trick that will get you to buy the more expensive Tempurpedic bed. Notice the pillows on all the Tempurpedic Beds. As a rule the more expensive the bed, the better the pillow on it and this is done for a reason. See the pillow WILL change the feel of the bed, so if the more luxurious pillow is on the more expensive bed, guess which one your body is going to like more. Make sure that you use the SAME pillow on all of the beds you try. This will ensure that you picked the bed for the comfort not the pillow on it.

Once you have narrowed your selection down to two beds take some time and lay on each one for 5-10 minutes. After laying on one for a while get up and lay down on the other using the same pillow. At this point your body will tell you which one it likes better. In the event that they "both feel good" and you "can't really tell the difference" buy the cheaper one and save the cash.

If you have a health condition that requires you to have elevation in bed it is a great idea to buy. Now that you have picked out your mattress with or without the Ergo Base it is time to pay for it. MAKE SURE your retailer offers the Tempurpedic 90 Day In-Home trial. This essentially allows you to return the bed if you don't like it after a few months. If your retailer doesn't offer this don't buy it from them. This is a free piece of mind that you need to have on a purchase of this size.

Sometimes a retailer will throw in a set of pillows for you, but this is not common so don't expect it, however you can always ask.
