How to Disconnect a Horn for a Cadillac Seville

As with any car, it's possible for the horn of your Cadillac Seville to malfunction. In some cases the horn may not function at all. However, it's also possible for the horn to start honking and to continuing blaring until it's fixed. A blaring horn often leads to embarrassing moments, especially if you're in a crowded area. Fortunately, it is possible to fix this problem on the spot.

Things You'll Need

  • Cadillac Seville manual
  • Pliers
  • Scissors or knife
  • Locate the car manual and turn to the table of contents. Find the section that deals with the fuses and fuse box. At this point your Cadillac Seville should be turned off and parked in a safe area.

  • Look at the diagram of the fuse box with your Seville car manual. Locate the placement of the fuse that supplies power to the horn.

  • Open the car hood and find the fuse box. Open it up and locate the designated horn fuse according to the diagram in the manual.

  • Pull the designated fuse out of the box. There is generally a small tool inside of the fuse box that makes it easier to pull out fuses. If this tool is not present, you may need to use a pair of pliers.

  • Turn the car back on to make sure the horn stopped working. If not, turn the car off and locate the actual horn underneath the hood. The horn is generally located in the back corn nearest to the driver's seat. Horns usually look like a little black box with a small cone shaped speaker sticking out of one side.

  • Pull the wires out of the horn. If the wires do not pull out easily, you must cut them with a pair of scissors or a knife.
