How to Hang Speakers From the Ceiling
If you are looking for a more custom setup for your surround sound system, you may want to consider hanging speakers from the ceiling. Things You'll Need
- Speakers
- Ceiling mounts
- Drill with a bit that is the same width as the screws for the mount
- Screwdriver bit
- Drop cloth
- Ladder

Choose the area where you would like to place the speakers. Ideal places are areas that are high enough so that people don't hit their heads on the speakers. They should be away from the main area of the room but still be able to point into the room.

Move any furniture that is under the area where the speaker will go. Place a drop cloth under the area to catch dust and debris. Set up a ladder that has enough height to easily reach the area.

Follow the directions to place the mount on the ceiling. Use the drill to start holes for the screws that will attach the mount to the ceiling. Work the screws in using the screwdriver bit.

Run the speaker cable to the corner of the ceiling and the nearest wall and attach it with brackets. Run the wire to the room corner, down to the floor and over to the theater system, so it is out of the way.

Every speaker mount has different instructions for how to attach it to the ceiling. Read the instructions so you attach the mounting correctly.
Make sure all of the mounting screws are tight and secure. You don't want the speaker to fall and either get destroyed or hurt someone.
