Cabinets often squeak when you open and shut them. Squeaky cabinet hinges can be very annoying, and disturbing to sleeping family members. The two causes of squeaky hinges are loose screws and friction.
Things You'll Need
- Dry rag
- Spray lubricant
- Phillips screwdriver
Hold a dry rag under the squeaking hinge to prevent lubricant drips.
Apply spray lubricant to the part of the hinge that bends to allow the door to swing open and shut. Spray a small amount, and catch any excess run-off with your dry rag.
Open and close the door to allow the lubricant to penetrate the moving parts.
Use your screwdriver to tighten all of the screws on the hinges. Turn the screwdriver in a clockwise motion while on the screw. Your hinge should now be silent.
