Ceramic tiles are a common flooring material, and their durability and wide selection of styles make them a viable product for any home. If you’ve had your tile floor for several years, you may have noticed that the tiles have lost their glossy sheen. You’ll be relieved to learn this is typically caused by buildup of cleaning products, and it’s not too tough to bring those ceramic floor tiles back to their original shine.
Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 2-gallon bucket
- Sponge mop or lint-free cloth
- High gloss ceramic tile sealant
Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar with 1 gallon of hot water in a 2-gallon bucket.
Wash the tile floor with the vinegar solution, using a sponge mop or lint-free cloth in an overlapping back-and-forth motion. Allow the ceramic to dry completely.
Apply high gloss ceramic tile sealant to the floor by pouring a small amount of sealant to a damp sponge. Work in three-foot square sections, and wipe the floor with the sponge in a back-and-forth motion. Allow to dry per manufacturer’s directions.
Repeat the sealant application, this time working in the opposite direction to ensure total coverage.
Tips & Warnings
- Always follow the manufacturer’s directions when using ceramic sealant.
