LG is a leader in producing quality electronic devices, including washing machines. They are not only pleasing to the eye, but they are also designed to be energy efficient. To get a longer life out of your LG washer, it must be installed correctly. While there are many different makes and models, they all follow the same basic installation principles. Even though you may be in a hurry to get yours out of the box and make it operational, there are a few installation instructions that you need to be follow.
Things You'll Need
- 2 water hoses
- Drain hose
Unpack the washing machine and carefully separate all paperwork from any parts you find in the packaging.
Plug the LG washing machine in and push "Door Open" button. Remove the contents from the inside, which should be 2 water supply hoses, a tie-down strap and a wrench.
Use the wrench to remove the 3 shipping bolts on the back side of the LG washer. There is one on the top and one on each side of the machine. Replace the washers with the plastic caps that are attached to the machine near the holes.
Take your water hoses and connect the ends that have the 90 degree angle to the back of the machine, connecting the hose that has a red stripe to the hot water port on the back of the machine, and the water hose with the blue stripe to the cold water port on the back of the machine. Tightly secure the hoses with a wrench, but be careful to not over-tighten them, as this can crack the fittings. Connect the other end of the hoses to the water outlets in your home; red with hot and blue with cold. Insert the drain hose into the drain pipe, and be sure it is secure.
Push the machine back into its home spot and set a level on top of it to see if it is level. If the machine is not level, use the wrench to adjust the levelers on the bottom of the machine until it reads level. Turn the levelers clockwise to raise the washer and counterclockwise to lower it.
Tips & Warnings
- If for some reason you do not have color-coded hoses, don't worry; just connect them in the same manner.
- Operating the machine when it is not level can result in excessive noise and damage to the washer.
