Vinegar dissolves calcium deposits and sanitizes humidifier parts.

Humidifiers add moisture to dry air in the home, but the continuous evaporation of water in the appliance leaves behind calcium deposits. If left unattended, the calcium will build up and eventually cause the humidifier to stop working properly. Rinsing the reservoir when refilling the machine can help reduce calcium. A deeper weekly cleaning may be necessary to completely remove calcium buildup.
