How to Search the Music on an iPod Touch

You can physically interact with your iPod's music collection with the iPod Touch, Apple's only iPod with a touch screen interface. The iPod Touch incorporates all of the features of a standard iPod, along with web browsing capabilities, email and expanded abilities to run applications. Instead of scrolling through your music like you would on a standard iPod, save time and use your iPod Touch's built-in search page to find the song or artist you want.

Things You'll Need

  • iPod Touch
  • Press the center button on the iPod Touch to activate it and display your iPod's home screen.

  • Drag your finger on the iPod Touch's screen from the left to the right. The screen will change to the iPod Touch's search screen.

  • Tap the search box to display the iPod Touch's on-screen keyboard. Press the keys to begin typing.

  • Enter the name of the song or artist for which you are searching. As you type, a list of results will display.

  • Press one of the results on the search page to being playing that specific song.

Tips & Warnings

  • Turn the iPod from a vertical position to a horizontal position to expand the size of the on-screen keyboard. This can be helpful if searching for a song or artist with a long title.
