How to Install Motorcycle Foot Pegs
Foot pegs offer you a place to rest your feet while riding a motorcycle. Foot pegs are bolted at the bottom of the motorcycle's frame and are in close proximity to the gear change lever and the brake pedal. The foot pegs of most street bikes are padded for comfort and isolation against vibration, but foot pegs on dirt bikes are made of metal with a serrated top edge to keep the rider's feet from slipping off. Foot pegs may be upgraded for rider comfort or for the sake of style.

Remove the nut from the existing foot peg at the foot peg support on the motorcycle's frame with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Repeat this action for both foot pegs. Set the nuts aside for installation of the new foot pegs.

Slide the bolt out by hand that holds the foot peg to the foot peg support. Remove the foot peg and the spring washer. Repeat this action for both foot pegs. Set the bolts and spring washers aside for installation of the new foot pegs.

Place the mounting end of the new foot peg into the slot of the foot peg support. Insert the spring washer with the straight edge of the washer facing the inside of the foot peg support. Repeat this action for both foot pegs.

Push a mounting bolt through the mounting hole in the foot peg support so that it passes through the spring washer and the foot peg. Make sure the threaded end of the bolt protrudes through the other side of the foot peg support. Repeat this action for both foot pegs.

Thread a mounting nut onto the threaded end of the mounting bolt in a clockwise direction and tighten with an adjustable wrench. Repeat this action for both foot pegs.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the foot peg mounting nuts are tight enough to resist loosening from vibration. Use a torque wrench and tighten the foot peg mounting nuts to the torque specified in the foot peg installation instructions.
