How to Remove the Stereo in a Ford Escape
Ford owners have plenty of vehicle audio options from which to choose. From CD players and Mp3 devices, to DVD navigation systems, you will be hard pressed to desire a system that is unavailable for your Ford Escape. Whether you are removing your Escape's stereo for repair or replacement, the task can be performed by someone with little audio experience. You can choose to enlist the services of a professional technician, or you can remove your stereo yourself and save the cost of labor.

1
Disconnect the negative battery cable (or grounding cable) from the negative lead post on the Ford Escape battery. The grounding cable is black and connects the negative battery lead to the frame of the vehicle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the cable. Remove the clamp from the negative lead post.

Disconnect the wire groups by hand. Pull the plastic wire group brackets, not the wires themselves. The groups can be disconnected in any order.
