Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the laptop completely. Unplug it from the wall, disconnect the cord from the computer, and remove the battery.

    • 2

Dampen a lint-free cloth to clean the outer case of the laptop. Make rubbing motions all along the top and around the keyboard and monitor to get any stains. If there are stains that won't come off with water, dip a corner of the cloth in rubbing alcohol and use that to remove the stain.

    • 3

Spray canned air onto the keyboard and between the keys to get any dust which may have accumulated there. Use the damp cloth to clean the top of the keys.

    • 4

Look for any openings in the laptop case where there is air flow. These openings help keep the laptop cool. Blow away any dust and debris from these openings with the air can. Pull out any remaining bits of dust with a cotton swab.

    • 5

Place a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton swab and rub it over the mouse touch pad. Be sure to focus on any stains and clear away any debris from the corners of the pad.

    • 6

Wipe the LCD screen of the laptop with a Swiffer cloth or other soft, lint-free cloth to clear away dust from the screen. If there are stains which are not coming off, dip the corner of the cloth in a small amount of rubbing alcohol and gently wipe the screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there are hard to reach parts of the keyboard that are not getting clean, try using the cotton swab technique.

  • Never spray anything directly on the LCD screen, as this can damage the LCD components. Do not press hard when cleaning the screen.

  • Don't use household cleaners anywhere on your laptop. These cleaners can be too harsh for electronics and cause damage.
