How to Hang Large Picture Frames on a Wall
Large pictures can be rather tricky to hang properly. It is important to carefully examine your available space in relation to the art you are hanging. A large picture needs a large area to hang or it will overwhelm the wall space. Determine the location where you will hang your picture. A large picture should be balanced with the other items placed on or against the same wall.

Measure the width of the area in which you wish to hang your picture. Mark the center of the hanging space with a small penciled "x" at about eye level.

Have your assistant hold the picture against the wall with the top of the picture even with the penciled "x" from step two, while you tell her if the picture is level or not. Once the picture is in the position you want, mark the wall across the top of the picture lightly with a pencil.

Pull the hanging wire on the back of the picture up like it is supporting the frame. Measure the distance from the top of the hanging wire to the top of the picture frame.

Translate your measurement from the picture frame to the wall. Check that your first "x" from step two is on the line that you drew on the wall across the top of the picture frame. Start at the first "x" and drop down the same distance you measured from the hanging wire to the top of the frame. Mark the spot with a second "x". This will ensure that the picture will be hanging exactly where you want it.

Following the manufacturer's directions, install the picture hanging wall anchor at the point of the second "x".

Hang the picture on the wall anchor and adjust the weight of the frame so that the picture is hanging level on the wall.

Erase any visible pencil marks from the wall. The top of your picture should be even with the line you drew across the top of the frame in step three and it should be centered in its hanging space.
