How to Install a Moen Shower Head

Tighten an adjustable wrench around the connection nut that secures the shower head to the shower arm. Hold the shower arm by grabbing it with your hand close to the wall. Use your free hand to turn the adjustable wrench counterclockwise to loosen the connection. Once the shower head is loosened, you can unscrew it by hand and remove it from the shower arm.

Use a rag to remove all of the old plumbing tape from the threads on the end of the shower arm. Wrap new plumber's tape around the threads in a clockwise direction. Press the tape into the threads with your fingers.

Insert a rubber washer into the inside of the Moen shower head. The washer is a seal between the shower arm and the inside of the shower head. Press the washer with your finger until the washer is properly seated inside the shower head.

Thread the Moen shower head onto the shower arm in a clockwise direction until it is hand tight. Place a clean cloth over the connection and adjust the wrench over the cloth and connection.

Hold the shower arm with one hand and turn the adjustable wrench clockwise to finish tightening the shower head to the shower arm. Turn on the shower and check for leaks. Tighten as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Do not over-tighten the shower head. It may be necessary to remove the shower head and re-tape the shower arm threads.
