  • Pendant light

  • Ladder

  • Bulb

Track lighting has become much more fashionable and is far from the tacky track lighting of the past. Pendant lights can easily be added to the track. Many manufacturers have designed track lighting systems that are extremely flexible and versatile and this allows you to install a pendant light in 15 minutes or less.

Step 1

Determine if your existing track lighting system supports the addition of pendant lights. An easy way to determine if it does is to search the manufacturer's website. Most contemporary systems will allow the addition of pendant lights.

Step 2

Purchase the pendant light for your track lighting system.

Step 3

Choose a space where the pendant light should hang. Remove any existing lights that are in the way. Twisting the existing lights counter-clockwise and pull down to remove them from the track.

Step 4

Install the pendant light by inserting the base into the track and turning it clockwise. Allow the pendant to hang down.

Step 5

Step back and determine if the location is correct. Adjust it if necessary.

Step 6

Remove the shade and install the bulb.

Step 7

Reattach the shade to the fixture.

Tip

It is helpful to have a friend hold the ladder for you and assist while you install the light.
