How to Save Super Bell Pepper Seeds

Allow the bell pepper to remain on the vine until the first frost. Picking a bell pepper before the seeds have had time to mature will reduce their success rate.

Dry out the bell pepper in a cool, but not cold, place away from sunlight. A basement or a closet are good choices for hanging your pepper. Tie a string around the bell pepper and hang it from a coat hanger. Avoid fitting too many bell peppers on one coat hanger.

Place the dried pepper on a plate. Carefully, cut through the bell pepper to get to the seeds. Separate each bell peppers seeds on a plate. Throw away the bell peppers.

Keep the seeds on a plate to allow them to day out for a couple of days. Put them in the basement or in a dry area where they won't be disturbed.

Take a few of the seeds from each bell pepper pile and place them on a moist towel. Wait a few days to see if your seeds germinate. Throw away any seeds from the pile that do not sprout.

Pour the seeds into a plastic bag and label the bag. Store the seeds in the freezer until they are ready to plant. Choose a time in the spring to start growing your super bell peppers.
