How to Troubleshoot KitchenAid Mixers

Save

If you are experiencing trouble with your KitchenAid stand mixer, you may be able to solve the problem without seeking help from a service technician. Before the mixer works properly the bowl and blades must be attached correctly. If the mixer fails to start this might be an electrical issue or simply a case of the mixer becoming overheated with heavy use. At the factory the flat beater is set so it clears the bottom of the bowl, but if the blades are hitting the bowl, the bowl may need to be readjusted.

Verify that the electrical outlet is working if the cord is plugged in and the appliance won’t turn on. There may be a fuse that needs to be replaced or a circuit breaker that has been tripped. One way to check is to plug a another appliance into the outlet.
