Disconnecting your dryer buzzer

1
Study the wiring diagram for your dryer and locate the buzzer. All dryers are different, depending on brand and model. Get familiar with yours. Most diagrams and user manuals can be accessed on the Internet.
-
2
Unplug the dryer. This cannot be overemphasized. NEVER work on anything electrical without being certain that the power has been disconnected. It is also a good idea to have another person around when working on electrical items, in case of emergency.

3
On most dryers, the buzzer is located inside the console that sits on top of the dryer. Use the screwdriver to remove any screws and open the console.
-
4
The dryer buzzer usually looks like a small black box with two wires going into it. A firm tug should pull the wires out. If not, they can be cut.
-
5
Wrap the end of each wire SEPARATELY with electrical tape, then tape them somewhere out of the way inside the console. This is very important. It is dangerous to leave exposed wires loose. They can cause machinery malfunction, fire, or injury.
-
6
Reinstall the console and plug in the dryer. Run the dryer to check that the buzzer is off and that all other functions are normal.
