If you run a business or are organizing some kind of event, brochures and fliers can be a great way to get the word out. If you go through a company like Kinkos or a local business, the cost of printing out even a small number of these documents can quickly add up and cut into your overall profits. The bright side of this, however, is that there are a number of Internet services and software titles available that allow you to create free brochures or fliers. You will still pay the cost of printing them, but you can design them with a sleek, professional look for free.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet connection
  1. Step 1

Use Microsoft Word. Many of us already have the Microsoft Office productivity suite installed on our computers. What most don't realize is that by opening Microsoft Word and selecting "New" from the "File" menu, you can choose from a number of free templates for a brochure or flier. You can change all the information to fit your needs and even use photos and clip art.

  2. Step 2

Use American Greetings. American Greeting's website offers users the ability to design their own fliers and brochures. When finished you can order prints of your finished documents through American Greeting or save the file to your computer hard drive for printing on your own.

  3. Step 3

Purchase a brochure/flier creator program. Software like Easy Flyer Creator allows the user to use text effects, clip art, full-color photos and a variety of other graphical enhancements to create professional-looking fliers and brochures. When finished you can choose to print them out on your home printer or take them to a local print shop to have duplicates made.

  4. Step 4

Design a flier or brochure from scratch using a photo-editing program. All computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems come with a program called "Paint." Simply create a new, blank document in paint that is the exact size you want the flier or brochure to be and you can create one of these yourself from the ground up.
