How to Resize GIF Images
Often a computer image is the wrong size. There are many utilities available to resize GIF and other images so they be used on websites or as print photos. IrfanView, a free utility, is one way to resize your GIF images.

Download and install IrfanView image viewer from the link in the "Resources" section of this article.Launch the program after it is installed.

Click the folder-shaped icon and browse to the GIF image that you wish to resize. Double click on it, and it will open in IrfanView.

Hit the "Ctrl" and "R" keys on the keyboard simultaneously to bring up the "Resize/Resample" window.

Type the desired imaged resolution on the left side of the window, or choose from several common desktop resolutions on the right side. Leave the radio button for "resample" selected to maintain image quality.

Click "OK" to resize the image.

Tips & Warnings
IrfanView is one of many image editing utilities available. Other popular utilities include Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, and Photoshop. All of these utilities can resize GIF and other image files, though the menu options used to do so may be slightly different from those described in this article.
