How to Remove a Maytag Washer Wash Tub
Replacing parts on the outer tub requires the washer wash tub to be removed. The wash tub sits inside the outer tub. Once you know how to remove a Maytag washer wash tub, the outer tub can be quickly accessed. The Maytag washer cabinet will be disassembled for access to the tubs and the tub ring. Things You'll Need
- Flathead screwdriver
- Socket wrench set
- Nut driver
- Phillips head screwdriver

Disconnect the washer from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply by turning the water valves off at the spigots coming from the wall.

Open the lid. Insert a flathead screwdriver in the slot between the bottom of the fabric softener dispenser on the top of the agitator. Twist the screwdriver to unsnap the dispenser from the agitator, and remove the dispenser.

Remove the bolt in the center of the agitator with the socket wrench. Grab the agitator with both hands near the bottom of the wash tub, and pull the agitator straight up out of the washer.

Remove the two screws that secure the toe panel with the nut driver. The screws are below the toe panel near the base of the washer. Pull the toe panel away from the washer.

Use the nut driver to remove the two screws that secure the bottom of the front panel to the side panels. Pull down the front panel and remove it from the washer.

Remove the two screws securing the top cover to the side panels with the nut driver. Lift the top panel and flip it back into its service position.

Loosen the hose clamp from the fill hose on the outer tub cover with the Philips head. Remove the fill hose from the outer tub cover.

Press down on the top cover and disengage the tabs securing the tub cover to the outer tub flange. Lift the tub cover off of the outer tub and remove the old gasket from the top cover.

Remove the bolts securing the wash tub to the center hub with the socket wrench. Lift the wash tub and the balance ring out of the outer tub.
