How to Light a Pilot on a Majestic Fireplace

Save

Majestic fireplaces offer warmth, comfort, and decor to any home, are reliable, and have a strong company backing. After the long summer months, when the air turns crisp and the leaves are falling, it's time to get the fireplace ready to use again. The first and most basic step to using your Majestic fireplace is to light the pilot on the gas logs. Igniting the pilot light is not difficult and can be performed in just a few minutes by anyone.

Things You'll Need

  • Long matches
  • Locate the gas line that enters your house (normally in the basement) and make sure the inline valve is turned to the "On" position.

  • Examine the Majestic fireplace and clean any dust from the gas logs. Also move any furniture or low-hanging cloth from the area surrounding the fireplace as these things are fire hazards.

  • Locate the gas turn-on knob near the back of the fireplace and turn the knob to the "On" position. Now find the temperature knob on the front of the fireplace and turn it to "Light".

  • Strike one of the long handled matches and place it through the small hole on the front of the gas logs that leads back to the pilot light. Wait until you are sure the pilot light is lit and then pull the match out and turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be extremely careful when lighting the pilot light, and if the stove is not going to be used for several weeks or more, check the pilot light periodically to make sure it is still lit.
