How to Remove Glass Haze From Stemware

Glass stemware can accumulate a cloudy haze over time due to the use of certain cleaning products. Glasses that have been washed frequently in a dishwasher often develop this haze more quickly. Residue from the dust and grease so prevalent in the kitchen can lead to tarnished stemware, too. Here's how you can remove this haze.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Sink or basin
  • Mild detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Scrub pad
  • Soak the glasses in warm, soapy water for about five minutes. Use a mild detergent such as Ivory.

  • Use a clean rag to wash them gently.

  • Rinse the glasses.

  • Towel dry them with a soft, clean cloth.

  • Pour 4 cups white vinegar into a stopped-up sink or basin.

  • Soak the glasses in the vinegar mixture for five minutes.

  • Rub gently with a rag. If this doesn't remove the film, use a scrub pad with a very fine texture. Rub very gently with the scrub pad.

  • Rinse under hot water and towel dry with a clean cloth.
