The bottom plate on Dyson vacuum cleaners is a cover placed on the underside of the vacuum's main nozzle. The bottom plate protects the components of the nozzle and makes it easier to push the vacuum across the floor. The bottom plate must be removed to gain access to the belt or agitator. The method for removing the bottom plates differs between Dyson upright and canister vacuums.
