How to Assemble an Oreck XL

The Oreck XL is a stand-up vacuum cleaner introduced in 2003. The vacuum requires little assembly, as the unit is packaged with most of the parts in place. However, the upper part of the handle, which houses the power button, is not attached to the lower part of the handle, and thus requires assembly. Once the handle is attached, the Oreck XL is ready for use.

• Phillips screwdriver

Instructions

1. Unscrew the two screws from the connector assembly at the top top of the lower part of the handle and pull the cardboard insert out of the assembly.

2. Slide the upper handle over the connector assembly. Make sure the "On/Off" switch on the upper handle is facing the front of the vacuum cleaner when sliding it over the connector unit.

3. Screw the short screw into the top hole of the connector assembly and the long screw into the lower hole of the connector assembly. Tighten the screws until the upper handle does not move.

4. Push the power cord into the safety clip attached to the upper handle to finish assembling the Oreck XL. Press on the cord above and below the clip to ensure it is secure.
