How to Find an Actuator for a Bad Door Lock on a Honda Odyssey

A bad door lock actuator on a Honda Odyssey can prevent the door from not only locking, but from even closing at all. Door lock actuators can fail for a variety of reasons. The most common reason, however, is the motor inside the locking mechanism. The Odyssey uses a Johnson motor as the actuator. When this motor fails, the locking mechanism will not work. Fortunately, finding a new actuator is simple.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate your local Honda dealer or make your purchase from respected and recognized online Honda dealers such as Majestic Honda (see "Resources"). Your local Honda dealer will always have genuine Honda parts and are easy to locate in your yellow pages.

  2. Step 2

Order the actuators. The front right door lock actuator is part number 72115-S6A-J11. The front left actuator is part number 72155-S5P-A11. The rear left lock is part number 72155-S6A-J11. The rear right door lock is part number 72155-S6A-J11. These part numbers are consistent for all model years of the Odyssey.

  3. Step 3

Verify the part numbers match on the actuators once you receive them. Mistakes do happen. Before you disassemble your doors to replace the actuators, verify that the part numbers are correct. Part numbers for genuine Honda parts are always printed on the outside of the packaging. Parts typically come in a clear plastic bag with a sticker on the outside of it, which also contain the part number.
