How to Make a Dove Out of Paper

These little doves are excellent decorations for baby showers and can be made into ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree. Just follow a few simple, and when you have a finished dove use a single hole punch to create a hole in the body of the dove and insert a length of ribbon or an ornament hook. Combine this and other paper craft projects to create a home-made mobile to hang in the nursery.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 paper lace doily
  • Scissors
  • Fold the doily in half along the middle.

  • Fold the doily in half again, and then undo this fold. The doily should now be a half circle with a crease down the middle cutting it into quarters.

  • Fold the top and bottom edges inwards to meet the crease that you just made. Then fold the doily in half again.

  • The bottom edge should be open where the edges of the folds are. Cut into the doily an inch away from this edge, but parallel to it. This cut should be 2 inches to 3 inches long (depending on the size of your circle).

  • Fold up the flap that was created by the cut on either side of the doily. This creates the wings of the dove.

  • Fold the point where the head will be slightly diagonally downward. Unfold and repeat in the opposite direction. Gently unfold the middle of the dove and push the fold for the head down, folding it and the dove back down the middle. This creates the beak and finishes the dove.
