As the cost of cigarettes continues to rise, some smokers have found that rolling their own tobacco is a cost-effective alternative. Here is a step-by-step guide for using a roller to craft a perfectly shaped cigarette.

How to Roll a Cigarette

Lightly pack the open rolling machine with tobacco. Make sure the tobacco is uniformly dispersed along the machine's depression.

Press the sliding roller to meet the stationary roller and give the roller nearest you one full turn downward with both thumbs.

With the gummed edge of the cigarette paper upright and facing you, insert the bottom edge of the cigarette paper where both closed rollers meet.

Slightly rotate the nearest roller until the cigarette paper catches, descends into the roller and starts to curl around the packed tobacco.

Moisten the gummed edge of the cigarette paper and continue rotating both rollers until the cigarette paper is drawn entirely into the rolling machine. Continue rolling for approximately three revolutions.

Open the rollers and remove your cigarette.

Tips & Warnings
Should you prefer smoking with a filter, insert one at the end of your open roller before packing the tobacco in Step 1. Steps 2 through 5 remain the same.
