Things You'll Need:
- Garbage bag
- Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Turn the Dyson vacuum cleaner off, and unplug the power cord from the wall.
-
Step 2
Locate the handle on top of the dust bin. The dust bin is a round container set into the upright part of the vacuum cleaner. Grasp the handle, and push the button on top of the handle forward to release the bin. Pull the handle towards you while the button is depressed to remove the bin from the Dyson vacuum. Hold the dust bin over a garbage bag, and press down on the button located on the back of the handle to empty the dirt from the bin.
-
Step 3
Unhook the small latch located at the base of the handle to remove the handle from the dust bin. Remove the round filter from the bin, and rinse it thoroughly until all of the dirt has been removed. Allow the filter to dry for 24 hours.
-
Step 4
Insert the dry filter into the dust bin, and replace the handle. Insert the bottom of the dust bin into the vacuum first, and then tilt the top towards the vacuum until it snaps into place.
-
Step 5
Turn the vacuum over so that you can see the cleaning brush where the vacuum makes contact with the carpet. There is a small screw located at the upper right corner of the brush casing. Turn the screw to the left to remove it, and slide out the cleaning brush. Use scissors to remove any threads or hair which have become wrapped around the brush. Slide the brush back into the vacuum, replace the casing and tighten the screw.
