How to Correctly Measure for Replacement Windows

Make sure your measrements are precise when ordering replacement windows.

It it fairly easy to correctly measure for replacement windows. Just keep in mind that the measurements you take must be accurate. New replacement windows are more often than not custom built to your specifications. Accurate measurements ensure that your new replacement windows will fit properly with the least amount of hassle.

• Measuring tape

Instructions

1. Measure the width between the inside jambs at the top, middle and bottom of the window using a measuring tape. If the measurements differ, use the smallest measurement.

2. Measure the height between the top of the window stool and the bottom of the head jamb using a measuring tape. Take three measurements: far left, center and far right. Use the smallest measurement.

3. Specify the width first, then the height when requesting a quote or ordering new replacement windows.

• Take accurate measurements to the closest 1/16 inch.
