How to Take a Whirlpool Washing Machine Apart

Disconnect the power supply from the Whirlpool washer by unplugging it from the wall outlet. Turn the water supply off to the washer as well

Place a bucket underneath the water hose connection at the rear of the washer. Twist the hose connections counterclockwise to remove the hoses from the washer. Pliers may be needed to aid in twisting them off. Place the ends inside the bucket to catch any residual water.

Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the control panel to the top of the washer. Flip the control console back into its service position.

Disconnect the lid switch harness by pressing in on the plastic tab and pulling it apart. The lid switch harness is located directly beneath the control console on the right.

Insert a flathead screwdriver into the mounting clips on the top rear of the washer. Press in on the clips and pull them out of the retaining hole with the screwdriver.

Open the lid to the washer and grab the washer with one hand between the tub and the washer cabinet.

Tilt the cabinet forward and release it from the bottom clips and lift the cabinet over the tub and away from the work area.

Twist the rear panel support back 90 degrees and tilt the panel back out of the way of the washer components.
