Instructions

    • 1

Get to the roof safely by securely deploying the extension ladder.

    • 2

Locate the drain vent. This will be a metal or plastic pipe, about 4 inches in diameter, extending 1-2 feet above the surface of the roof. It probably will be coming out above a bathroom. Move the extension ladder if necessary for easier access.

    • 3

Toss the roofing ladder over the ridge of your roof for safe access, and climb out to the vent.

    • 4

Shine a bright light down the vent to see if there are any blockages.

    • 5

Turn on the water hose at high pressure and shoot water down the drain. Wait until you hear a whooshing sound of the water clearing the obstacle. Check again with the flashlight to be sure the stoppage is cleared.
