Draw a Cartoon Rabbit

Cartoon rabbits have been a part of animation since its creation. Both Disney and Warner Brothers have used cartoon rabbits to inspire laughter, trick villains and make fools of themselves. Cartoon rabbits have been witty like Bugs Bunny and witless like Roger Rabbit. Creating your own drawing of a cartoon rabbit can be done to create a new and original character. A cartoon rabbit can also be used as the spokesperson for a small business, messenger on a greeting card or simply a funny doodle to have around the house or office.

Instructions

    • 1
      Basic ovals create the frame.

Draw the head of the rabbit with an oval shape. Attach the mouth and nose area with a sideways oval. Create the body with a large triangular shaped oval.

    • 2
Ears are the most important aspect of the rabbit cartoon character.

Add the ears with two long curved ovals on the upper right and left side of the head. Draw the front paws with small thin ovals under the right and left side of the mouth area.

    • 3
Hind legs are thicker than the front legs.

Create the hind leg on the left side of the rabbit with a curved line coming down from the left side of the belly. Attach a rectangular shape to the base of the curved line. Add the right side hind leg with an oval at the bottom right-hand side of the body and attach a small square shape to the bottom of this.

    • 4
The eyes and mouth give the rabbit character.

Draw the eyes with two small ovals with curved lines attached to the top. Add the nose with an upside down triangle shape.

    • 5
      Whiskers are easy to add.

Draw the eyebrows with a curved line above each eye. Add the mouth with a curved, upside down "Y" shape. Draw three horizontal lines on each side of the mouth to create whiskers. Add a parallel line on the upper inside edge of each rabbit ear. Add two curved lines on the front of each paw to separate the toes.

    • 6
Inking the drawing creates crisp lines.

Ink all of the lines you with to keep. Let the ink dry and carefully erase the pencil lines.

    • 7
Coloring the picture brings your drawing to life.

Color the body of the rabbit with a light gray marker. Color the nose pink. Let the marker dry and use a white colored pencil over the gray to add highlights.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add fur to the outline of the rabbit with small curved triangular shapes.

  • Let the marker dry completely before using colored pencil on it or the picture will smudge or tear.
