Step 1
Activate the chain brake by pushing the front hand guard forwards.

Set the choke control in the designated choke position; this should automatically set the stop switch to the start position.

Start throttle by moving the control to the choke position.

Press the decompression valve to reduce the pressure in the cylinder and make starting easier. The decompression valve should always be used when starting the chainsaw. Once the chainsaw has started, the valve will return to its original setting.

Grip the front handle with your left hand and hold the chain saw on the ground by placing your right foot through the rear handle.

Step 6
Pull the starter handle with your right hand, pulling the starter cord out slowly until you feel resistance. Once you feel resistance, pull the cord firmly and rapidly.

Step 7
Push in the choke control as soon as the engine starts and then make repeated starting attempts. To disengage the throttle latch, immediately press and release the throttle when the engine starts.
