Things You'll Need:
- Product Brochures
- Power Brush Vacuum Attachments
- Replacement Vacuum Bags
- Vacuum Cleaners
- Vacuum Wands
- Vacuum cleaners
-
Step 1
Choose either an upright or a canister vacuum. Uprights are best for cleaning just your carpet, while canisters offer more versatility but are more difficult to lug around.
-
Step 2
Decide how important a sophisticated filtration system is to you. Vacuums that have them generally cost more, but they can be effective in removing a large percentage of pollens and mites from the air.
-
Step 3
Choose the "bells and whistles" in terms of attachments, attachment caddies, power nozzles, indicators that tell if the bag is full, air freshener systems and self-propelled uprights.
-
Step 4
Compare and read warranties carefully.

on 4/8/2007 I bought a Filter Queen Majestic 8 years ago and have loved it ever since. For starters, it never gives off that dusty vacuum smell even after cleaning up after my wet dog; secondly, it never clogs and continues to clean wonderfully until it is completely full and shuts itself off; lastly, the warranty is amazing! being a military wife we have been stationed in three different countries and completely replaced the entire motor after I got it wet for $99.00USD while in Germany and got a new 5 year unlimited warranty with the new motor. How many Dysons, Hoovers, Orecks, or Kirbys can say that. P.S. The local Filter Queen dealer in Berlin fullfilled my warranty even though we purchased it in Tacoma Washington. I recommend it to everybody who asks me, including my Dad who is a Kirby dealer

on 8/8/2006 We bought a Filter Queen upon the recommendation of a friend, without consulting reviews. While it cleaned well, the motor went out after 6 years despite reasonable care and use. For the money, I'd look into a Miele, Hoover, Electrolux, anything else.

on 1/30/2006 There is nothing more worthless than an Oreck vacuum. It has been nothing but trouble. The hype is all marketing, not quality. I would never buy or recommend an Oreck.
