    Things You'll Need

    • Knowledge of Alice Characters
    • Internet access or access to local costume shop
      • 1

Decide which character you want to be. Don't limit yourself by gender. This is the 21st century people. Ladies, if you want to be the Mad Hatter, do it. Gentlemen, show off those legs as Alice. As a great man wearing lipstick and eyeliner once said, "Don't dream it. Be it."

Choose a style. Believe it or not, you have a choice. Due to the various incarnations of Alice, there are the classic styles, dark/gothic styles and sexier/club styles. These styles run the gamut of all characters in the canon from Alice to the Mad Hatter.

Purchase your base costume. Be it a traditional blue Alice dress, the gown of the Queen of Hearts or the Mad Hatter's suit, you're going to need a starting point for your costume. Purchase this first and then proceed to finding the accessories for your costume.

Accessorize your costume. The Mad Hatter's not complete without his hat (See Resources) and the Queen of Hearts needs a scepter (again, see Resources). If you're transforming yourself into the White Rabbit, you must have your pocket watch.

      • 5

Choose a wig if needed. Alice is known for her blonde hair. Choose a suitable wig (See Resources) for this costume. Use your creativity and discretion for the remaining characters.

      • 6

Practice your character's movements and characteristics. Don't stop at the costume. Become the character. Whether you base your character off the original Disney classic or Tim Burton's new film is up to you.

        Have fun.
