Download a copy of the Viewsat Extreme firmware "loader" tool and firmware update from the manufacturer's support site (see Resources for links). The firmware loader and update will be archived into "Zip" files.

Extract the "Zip" files containing the loader tool and firmware update to your desktop using a Zip extraction utility (see Resources for link). Install the loader's extracted setup file.

Connect your Viewsat Extreme satellite receiver to your computer using a null modem cable. Plug one end of the null modem cable into the serial port on the back-left side of your receiver, and plug the opposite end of the cable into your computer's serial port. Power on the Viewsat.

Launch the loader tool. Click the button labeled "Open File." Use the explorer window that appears to locate the extracted firmware update file, select it and then open it. Back in the loader's main menu, click on the button labeled "PC to STB" to load the firmware update to your Viewsat Extreme.
