Hang the ties around your neck and make sure they are at a length that suits you. Generally you don't want them to go all the way down to your waist, but you also don't want them to be short enough to be confused with a necklace. One fourth the distance to your waist is generally a safe and authentic estimate (Measured from the neck).

Now you are ready to choose the slider for your bolo ties (the object that is on the ties). You can pick a nice little cowboy hat, a pair of bullets, an old quarter-just about anything you want. The key is to attach it to a bolo slide (not to be confused with the slider--the object). The bolo slide is a small little hook-like accessory that you can buy in most jewelry stores or online.

Once you have your bolo slides, you are ready to begin gluing. Find the object you have chosen as the slider, and carefully glue the bolo slide onto the back of it. Use jewelry glue or another similar super glue that will stick well. Glue one bolo slide onto each side of the object you have chosen for your slide.

After you have glued the two together, you are ready to string the bolo and create the ties. Carefully slide the string (or leather, whatever you chose to use) through the slide. Find the desired height for the slide, and then pinch the bolo slides tight. This should keep it in place and ensure your bolo ties stay well tied!
