1
Print an image of the Superman logo on a sheet of high-quality paper. Attach a sheet of drawing paper to an easel or drawing board and tape the printed image on the work surface. The printed logo will serve as a guide for your drawing. Place the board near a strong source of light.
-
2
Using your black colored pencil, draw a diamond shape in the center of the drawing paper. The shape should be flat on the top, with two angled corners and a pointed end. Draw the diamond large enough to conveniently fit a letter on the inside of the shape.
-
3
Sketch a 1/4-inch thick border around the outside of your diamond shape.
-
4
Create a small rectangular box at the inside edge of the right rectangle. This will form the beginning of the "S" shape. From there, draw a curving "S" line with the inside curve just barely extending to the tip of the inside edge of the angled diamond border. Continue drawing the line, extending the outer edge over the diamond border on the right and ending the line at insider bottom edge of the left side of the diamond.
-
5
Make the shape complete by turning it into a block letter. Draw a curving line from the top left angled edge of the diamond to the bottom left angled edge, stopping when you meet the interior border line. Continue making the shape, mimicking the same "S" line to create the outer edge of the letter's curves. Complete the "S" by giving it a rounded, bulb like end.
-
6
Erase the inside line of the small rectangle, and sketch a small triangle at the top inner edge of the diamond, to create a serif at the top part of the "S."
-
7
Fill in the border and the letter "S" with a bright red colored pencil. Use short, hatching strokes to create a solid block of color. Use a yellow colored pencil to fill in the background inside the diamond, behind the "S" shape. Go over the contour lines with the black colored pencil to give the emblem a distinct look.
